About us

About us

Queer Archives of the Bengal Delta preserves, shares, and reflects on Bangladeshi queer memories and experiences. We approach archiving with care, joy, and love. We work together with community members, allies, and scholars to understand Bangladeshi queer politics, culture, and movements.

Queer Archives of the Bengal Delta archives a wide range of materials, including quotidian items such as diaries, letters, social media posts, old photos, and personal used objects. We approach these materials with curiosity and playfulness; and respond to them through art exhibitions, community dialogues, performances, and collaborative actions.

QABD believes in community ownership of archives. The archival items we preserve belong to the Bangladeshi queer community. We are the stewards of these materials.

In the age of digital surveillance, we are aware of how queer memories can be used against queer communities. We have created multiple layers of access to share the archives safely and reduce risk as best as we can.
