Queer people in Bangladesh face institutional and social stigmas, bullying, harassment, and threats. From being kicked out of their homes to facing murder and other organized crimes, dating violence, blackmail, arrests, and various forms of surveillance, such challenges are a common part of life for queer individuals in Bangladesh.

In this ongoing project, we are mapping the evolving patterns  of queer violence—whether institutional, governmental, or social—using our archive’s collection of news reports, social media posts, and other quotidian materials. By creating this timeline, we highlight the changing nature and frequency of anti-queer violence at different times. Beyond documenting the historical presence of such violence, this project also supports queer Bangladeshis in strategizing for their physical and mental safety.
